Welcome to Claranormal.com
A part of RealDealParanormal
Claranormal has always had, and continues to have, a long term
commitment to searching out the paranormal, and helping people. We
are not one of these groups which popped out of nowhere and suddenly
think we know it all. We "earn our bones" years ago. The founders,
Steve in particular, have dealt with the paranormal for decades, and
has been informally studying it since 1996, and seriously studying
it since 1999. Justin has over 20 years in dealing with the
paranormal, as does Scott (who remains a skeptic), and Amber has
over 30 years of experience. Perry, however, is our primary skeptic,
so level headed is he.
We serve all of Southern California while searching for paranormal activity,
our focus is primarily on ghost and spirit activity.
We at Claranormal.com are a small and growing group which investigates
haunted
locations that have, or seem to have, paranormal activity. We
use video cameras, digital recorders and still cameras,
EVP meters and other tools, all the while attempting to explain location activity with terrestrial
events. When that fails, what we have left over is paranormal.
What we do
You'll hear the terms "Ghost Hunting" and "Paranormal Investigations" bandied about in the paranormal field, but by and large it's a matter of semantics as far as we're concerned. We do both.
For Claranormal, a ghost hunt is generally the first phase of an investigation of a site, regardless of whether it's known or alleged as being haunted. If we feel it's haunted, we'll schedule an investigation at this point. This assessment is based on photographic evidence, voice recorder evidence, video evidence, personal experiences, and occasionally the feelings of our talented sensitive members. Even before the hunt, many times we'll do a walk through of an unproven haunted location to assess it's dangers, accessibility, potential, we'll map it, note anything peculiar or outstanding, and maybe we'll even catch some compelling evidence. If all these things are accomplished we'll conduct an investigation. All of the above and below is only if we have
| So, in this order: Walk through. Evidence review, possible reveal. Ghost hunt. Evidence review, possible reveal. Ghost investigation. Evidence review, evidence reveal. Follow up with client. |

How we differ
Generally speaking, and relating to
the above paragraph, a ghost hunter is usually defined as
"someone without any real skill or training who is looking
for ghosts for kicks. Burden of proof and level of
discrimination of 'evidence' is very low." A paranormal
investigator is defined as a person with training and a high
level of skill who is seeking to document evidence of
paranormal activity, or disprove claims of a haunting. The burden of
proof is much higher.
We take the best of both and meld it into our operating
philosophy. Hunt to see if a place is haunted, then
investigate it if there seems to be activity.
A lot of ghost hunters go into a supposedly haunted sites as complete skeptics, and
we believe that the negative energy brought by absolute skeptics does indeed flavor an investigation in a negative fashion. This causes the investigators to miss compelling, interesting and sometimes vital clues, omitting activity and dismissing potential findings out of hand. This certainly effects the results.
We also believe that the "spirit world" is less receptive
and responsive to investigators who are exuding negative
energy, save for "ghosts" who become annoyed with their
"guests." Another type of investigator is the "provoker."
This type goes into a site with an expectation of finding
something, like we do, but once in tends to insult and
otherwise bait any spirits that may be present. This also
brings negative energy into an investigation, and is highly
insulting to the other side. This technique can be
effectively used, however, the trick is to use "baiting"
appropriately. The place for skepticism and negative thought
is not in the investigative phase, but rather in the
"evidence review" stage. When we listen to an EVP from a ghost hunt, watch our videos and look through our photos, person after person, each individual carefully and independently inspects the results and makes notes of anything of interest. This is followed up with combining the evidence and seeing what we have.
We toss out over 90% and close to 99% of our gathered
evidence for one reason or another.
Courage is resistance to
fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.
